The near future...
Els de Poorter lives, works and spends most of her pastime in the city. Also for this reason she has just bought a brand new - electrical- city car. This allows her to do all her daily trips without any problem, to save significantly on her car usage and it suits her environmentally conscious and progressive attitude perfectly.
Like many others, Els has come up with the idea of buying an electrical car as a result of the leading role her city - your city - has adopted in this field. After all, last year you issued a combined plan of action towards providing charge points in and near the city. You were not alone in that: through collaboration with various companies a real charging network was established in your area. Your 'electrical' citizens can recharge with one single card - the E-VIP pass - in public parking areas, underground parking areas, semi-public parking areas (variety stores, shopping malls, cinemas,...) and in park & ride zones. With reason, your city has a reputation in our country and far and wide when progressive policy is discussed!
Els lives near the market square, where in the underground parking ten spaces are reserved for E-VIP. They are equipped with the reliable eNovates charging systems. Costs are settled through the provider that handles the distribution of the E-VIP cards. They arrange that the citizen is affiliated to one company and is able to charge with one single card at every location.
Els quickly locates the vehicle she had reserved earlier in the week through her mobile phone. Els uses her E-VIP card to register. "Welcome Els", reports the system, upon which the charging lock is released. Less than thirty seconds late Els is driving het hyper-modern, comfortable and noise-free electrical car. "What a lovely day!", Els thinks.
Els has an appointment with a customer who's company resides in one of the suburbs. Although this suburb doesn't participate in the E-VIP project just yet, Els knows that she can park her car at her destination: the company of her customer does have three electrical company cars and Els knows that there is always a parking place with charging station available in the company parking area of her client. There, she can easily charge her car after reporting to the reception and obtaining a (temporary) code. "Pity E-VIP doesn't work here", Els thinks, "but at least I can proceed!". The customer's company also works with eNovates charging stations and software, which facilitates a future integration into the E-VIP project or another form of collaboration - both systems can be linked together easily. The exchanged data can be shielded to the lowest level, for privacy protection. Again, options for the future...
